New project: Swimming class!

Our four volunteers from Holland decided to start a new project: swimming class! The reason that they started this class is that most Balinese people never learned how to swim. The goal is to teach them how to swim properly so they will be able to teach the skill to others in the future.

The four volunteers will teach 2 groups of women how to swim once a week for two hours. The volunteers will be here for three months so the first 1,5 month is for the younger girls. They started with the swimming class last week. The other 1,5 month will be for the older women of the centre. These classes will start half of November. Hopefully, all the women will be able to swim on their own when the class will be finished!

The first class that started last week was a big success! The girls had to start by showing what they can already do. After that, the volunteers showed them the right way to swim and each of them paired up with a student so they got personal help and advise. After two hours of swimming class, the girls made a lot of progress! But they need to keep practicing so they will be back next week!
